DALLAS HAYES-SPARKS

Dallas Hayes-Sparks is a singer – specializing in opera – from Calgary, Alberta. She is a graduate of the University of British Columbia majoring in Opera Performance and Psychology. She is also an Honours Graduate of the Mount Royal Vocal Academy for Gifted Students. Dallas has worked as a rostered singer with Cowtown Opera Company, Revv52, and is in her sixth season as a member of the Calgary Opera Chorus. She has received first place standings across Southern Alberta Music Festivals numerous times. Dallas has also showcased her talent across North America, with notable performances, including two appearances at Carnegie Hall in her career.

 

Dallas has recently performed in a variety of productions, including the roles of Andrea in Quest Theatre’s touring production The Antyssey, Lila in Lila and Luka at Calgary Opera, and Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music at Storybook Theatre. Featured solo work includes Bow Valley Chorus' Missa Gaia and Voicescapes Messiah. Operatic work includes the role of Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Mustardseed in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and ensemble work features Calgary Opera’s productions of Romeo et Juliette , Everest, and The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs. Other highlights include appearances on the History Channel show Our War, the Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show and Theatre Calgary's Reignite the Stage.

Dallas is a multifaceted musician deeply entrenched in the vibrant tapestry of the Calgary music scene. When she's not enchanting audiences with her performances, she dedicates herself to nurturing musical talent and spreading the joy of music. With a long-standing residency at Calgary Opera as a teaching artist, Dallas imparts her passion for music to aspiring artists of all ages. As the sole proprietor of Dallas Hayes-Sparks Music Studio, she extends her expertise in private voice and piano instruction, shaping the next generation of musicians. Dallas' artistic prowess extends beyond teaching as she boasts a rich portfolio of artistic direction. Over the past six years, she has produced numerous musical productions, including her directorial contributions to Calgary Opera's 'Let's Create an Opera' program and by providing additional music direction to Storybook Theatre's summer intensive program productions of Legally Blonde, and The Theory of Relativity. Dallas takes immense pride not only in her own performance career but also in nurturing the talents of youth and fellow performers, embodying her commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive musical community.
