AURA PON

Aura Pon is an oboist, composer, and music technology researcher based in Clearwater County, Alberta. She holds a PhD in Music with a specialization in Computational Media Design from the University of Calgary and is a Deep Listening practitioner certified by the Center for Deep Listening. She performs regularly as the Symphony of the Kootenays' principal oboist and an extra musician for the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and Red Deer Symphony. Her compositions, which include instrumental chamber and orchestral music, electroacoustic music, and intermedia, have been performed by various countries such as Quartetto Gelato, Regina Symphony Orchestra, Kensington Sinfonia, Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, Vox Tactum, and Blythwood Winds. Her music appears on two commercial recordings by Canadian oboe soloist Colin Maier. Alongside her musicking, she is an online instructor at Athabasca University and maintains a small acreage home with her family.
